It makes for a heady mix of beauty really on this week long holiday that takes in urban greats such as Siena and Florence. Mixed with more rural classics too, such as the medieval market town of Greve in Chianti, or the ancient stone village of Montefioralle, with views over Tuscan splendour all around, including cedar and olive groves that have just lined your morning’s walking trail.
Chianti is, of course, a recurring theme on this trip, with a visit to the Tuscan Wine School in Siena, or taking a walk around Fonterutoli where the castle estate is famous for its Chianti vineyards. Another day of walking up to the medieval, hilltop and walled town of San Gimignano is toasted with a wine tasting at nearby Villa Il Palagetto, most famous home to Vernaccia grapes.
Arrive in Florence and check into your hotel. Spend the evening exploring the city, visiting landmarks such as the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio.
Embark on a full-day guided tour through the Chianti region. Visit several wineries, enjoy tastings, and learn about the history of the region's wines. Have lunch at a local trattoria, featuring traditional Tuscan cuisine.
Spend two days exploring the picturesque towns of Montalcino and Montepulciano. Visit vineyards producing the famous Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano wines, enjoy tastings, and learn about the unique characteristics of these wines. Don't forget to explore the charming medieval town centers of both Montalcino and Montepulciano.
Visit San Gimignano, known for its stunning medieval towers and Vernaccia white wine. Enjoy a guided tour of a local winery, followed by a wine tasting. Spend the afternoon exploring the town's well-preserved medieval center, with its narrow streets and beautiful squares.
Discover the world of Super Tuscan wines in the Bolgheri region. Visit prestigious wineries producing highly acclaimed wines such as Ornellaia and Sassicaia. Enjoy guided tastings and learn about the history and production of these innovative wines.
Take a break from wine tasting to visit the historic towns of Lucca and Pisa. Explore Lucca's charming old town, surrounded by impressive Renaissance walls, and see Pisa's famous Leaning Tower and Piazza dei Miracoli.
